Then you want to be clear on how the product is doing.  Is it something that everyone else is selling, or is it unique and something everyone will want, but is one of a kind?  If the product is one that everyone else is selling, does the company offer something extremely unique in their product that makes it stand out?  This is important because you don’t want to be in a marketing company whose products are hard to move.  A lot of top network marketing companies may offer some of the same products, but each one of them has something that uniquely defines what they put out.

Then you want to be sure that they are financially sound.  And generally the way to see that is based on how long they have been successfully in business.  Not just in business.  Their financial records will be available for you to review so that you can make a decision based on the confidence of their financial standing.   And a company with longevity will lay most, if not all of your fears of being scammed to rest.

Have you heard about the latest multi level marketing business venture?  Did it come to you from an email, a tip from your neighbor or the guy in the other office?  Should you check it out or should you keep doing what you do every time you hear about the newest mlm, keep it moving?

The difference between the pyramid schemes and multi level marketing is that one is actually going to focus on pushing their product.  One will offer you a money back guarantee.  They will offer you some kind of product buy back.  Meaning if you for some reason aren’t able to sell the product  or you have decided that this venture isn’t for you, the mlm will actually buy back the products.  Sometimes up to 80% of the product.  With pyramids they are only interested in getting you to sign up and then making sure that you have individuals do the same.

The pyramids will often have you purchase tons and tons of products and then leave you hanging.  So instead of focusing on moving product like a multi level marketing business would, they are focused on getting people to become a part of the pyramid.  The more people sign up, the more money they make on the top.  And when there is no one else to join, the individuals who recently became a part of the pyramid are left without any of their funds and tons of products.
